Perhaps the imagery of a Scorpion is one of the things that casts this sign in somewhat of a negative, scary light. Scorpions can indeed be scary and lethal. The higher wisdom is depicted as an upward climb on a spiral. Described within a spiritual focus, Malvin Artley states that:

"On the higher turn of the spiral, when the Scorpio is spiritually focused, the key phrase is “Warrior I am, and from the battle I emerge triumphant.” The victory referred to is the victory over one’s lower nature and the warrior is one’s own higher nature."

Artley’s statements are a reminder of many Scorpio acquaintances and friends. With desire being prominent in the Scorpio personality, when applied to helping others, the focus is intense. Marie Curie is one example of the altruistic Scorpio type.

Mystery as attributed to the Scorpio astrology works both ways. A fascination with mysteries can also be one of the facets of Scorpio astrology. As Madame Curie stayed doggedly with her research, she eventually solved the mystery that had captured her intrigue. With this, plus the toughness and tenacity of Scorpio, she ended up making a great contribution to humanity.

The Elements in Astrology

Readers are much more sophisticated about astrology these days, yet the most common astrology oversimplifies.  For this reason, astrology has lost credibility with many people.  Human beings are complex, and in-depth astrology always reflects a mulitfaceted individual.

Often referred to as a natal chart, in astrology, an astrology chart is what gives uniqueness to a personality.  Very much unlike reading daily news astrology, when a birth chart is constructed, the multifaceted characteristics of a human being are explored.

The hieroglyphs are symbols seen within an astrology chart.  What do they mean?

Astrology is an ancient art, and the early symbols are still used in contemporary natal or birth charts known as horoscopes.  Hieroglyphs are a type of shorthand that saves time, and space.  A lot of information makes its way to the wheel shaped form used by most astrologers.

Here is a brief rundown of what the planets actually signify.  Hopefully this demonstrates some of the complexity covered in an authentic astrology reading.  Whether the chart is simply exploring the personality of the subject, or calculating trends, it’s an astrology chart is a basic necessity for truly understanding who a person is.

Astrology and what the Planets represent:

Sun - soul

Moon – emotions, intuition

Venus – love nature

Mars – motivation; love nature of male expression

Mercury – communication, intelligence

Jupiter – growth and expansion (prosperity)

Saturn – stability through knowledge

Uranus – quixotic changes, genius, electricity

Neptune – spirituality

Pluto – subconscious

Astrology and house placement:

 The next category functions as a sort of an underlay for the placements of the planets.  This is the system of houses.  Wedge shaped areas are described further in depth as to characteristics that are feminine or masculine, as most people have attributes of both genders.  The houses represent basic areas of life.

For example, if you are a Leo, and your Leo sun sign falls into the fourth house, you are more of a homebody than most Leos.  If the sun sign is placed in the seventh house, you are a relationship person. Because the seventh house is Libra’s home, this placement gives a tinge of the Libra nature to a basic Leo archetype.

After all of the planets are placed on the wheel or the natal chart, the angles between the placements are calculated.  If two planets are opposite each other, on the wheel, it is called an opposition.  This means inner conflict that needs to be resolved.  A triangle shape between signs is a smoother flow of energy, and it adds ease to a person’s life.

Astrology - Triplicities and Quadruplicities indicate elements describing a certain facet of personality – Fire, Air, Earth, Water are descriptions of personality facets.  The other consideration is a description of Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. Cardinal shows administrative abilities.  Fixed indicates someone who isn’t too flexible.  Mutable indicates flexibility.

An astrology chart goes a long way toward understanding a human being as a unique individual.

Gardening Transplanting Tips

Before you know it, the greenhouses will be opening up, and spring will be in full motion.

Some tips for transplanting from nursery stock are as follows:

1.) Once the flats of new plant babies arrive at your home, they need to go into the garden right away. The soil they have been living in is probably depleted, and leaving them around even for two or three days can be traumatic.

2.) I always check the moonsign to ensure optimum growth.

1. first quarter of the moon is best for above ground plants

2. second quarter continues to be good planting.

3. full moon is not a good time for activities in the garden.

4. last quarter accommodates root crops like carrots or beets
   
   

3.) Soak the flats in water for a while first. This gets the roots loose and ranging around nicely. I don't go with the recommendations of scraping or digging into the roots for loosening up the root ball. Salty fingers and scraping on delicate roots seems all wrong.

4.) A mild solution of liquid fertilizer strengthens the nursery starts and bolsters them up for growing in the new garden location. Loosen the soil where the planting will take place. Dig the hole and add lots of the diluted fertilizer before putting the starts into the ground. Replace the dirt, gently pat down, and soak the area again once in the ground. Water them every day for a couple of weeks.

5.) While in this process, always say god bless you when moving the plant babies. I shared this transplanting ritual with my Catholic girlfriend who changed it into a chant - . . . .godblessyou godblessyou godblessyou.

When it's harvest time, your plant babies will be grown up and ready to return your blessing with the bounty of flowers and/or vegetable produce from your very own garden.
