Astrology of the Moon Signs for December 19 through 25 2010

Merry Christmas

Along with Christmas, the Full Moon astrology will be a factor in this week’s moon sign atmosphere.

Outer planet astrology effects combining with moon sign energy

We still have a heavy influence of Capricorn, with the sun traveling through Capricorn in conjunction with Pluto.  Capricorn suits the spirit of shopping, and focuses on the material, adding a nice flow that goes well with gift giving.

Venus in Scorpio contributes lots of intensity.

Learning Astrology Guru Style

When people are kind and honest, I will follow them like a puppy dog, and this was the case with an astrologer friend/guru who taught me astrology.  I began as a hardheaded skeptic, but through time learned that his predictions accurately described an emotional climate along with an anticipated duration of time.

Best friends for years, in order to communicate, learning the language of this eccentric man eventually integrated into my vocabulary.  For example, if he knew a woman who he felt attracted to, he’d say “There goes a pretty little Cancer girl.”  And then he’d explain to me how most Cancer women are attractive.

Sometimes, I’d have him cast a chart for someone I was dating.  John could explain intimate, almost embarrassing details about the person.  After so many different astrology chart interpretations that fit our mutual friends, and his knowledge of detailed facts about his client’s lives, I almost became convinced.

John had explained to me how astrology is about energy patterns created by the planets surrounding Mother Earth, and had done so repeatedly through his fanaticism with astrology, that I had absorbed much of his knowledge.

I also always had access to an unbelievably complete library of spiritual astrology of which he reviewed the various astrological writers.

Rather than getting so immersed in the cosmic world that I would be removed from tangible, earthly endeavors, I took up gardening by moon signs.

Interesting observations showed that other gardeners intuitively followed the best moon sign gardening activities without being privy to any astrological ephemeris listings of the moon’s placement.

Later, combining some of John’s descriptions of astrological energies, I began to see how a general mood seemed to precipitate the day.  Fixed signs usually meant slower traffic, which I got to check out commuting to college on a daily basis.  Rain on or near certain water signs, like Pisces, seemed to have a pattern, and so forth.

And it does seem that Cancerian individuals are usually good looking.

After deciding to investigate more avenues of astrology, I compiled a library of astrology charts that I did for free.  Hundreds of examples proved to be accurate as far as the types of energies that John had ascribed to the surrounding planets.

That’s when I got hooked.  Still a generalist who wishes to reserve time for creative endeavors, writing about the astrological concepts that my guru taught me, is something I’d like to share with the world because it has helped so much.

Astrology offers a way to go with the flow.  Like electricity, taking the path of least resistance expedites life endeavors.  John lives in a different state, now, and we’ve lost contact, but I hope he knows how much I appreciate learning astrology guru style.

Libra Graciously Opens the Door to Autumn

Libra astrology represents the knife edged tightrope between opposites. Opposite to the Spring Equinox, which does Aries host, Libra makes an appearance on the opposite side of the zodiac.

Libra/Aries is part of a cycle, and when the focus is on Libra, it means that the lessons of the past three months are applied symbolically through Libra.

A Cardinal sign according to astrology, Libra is said to exist on the Cardinal Cross. It shares the Cardinal position with three other signs. Cardinal signs such as Libra are constantly found leading the way, organizing the program, and putting things into an orderly arrangement.

Here within the Libra sphere, darkness and light balance. Our days and nights gradually become equal. From a spiritual perspective, the Libran balance applies to balancing matter and soul.

Astrology has it that this is the place where dualities are neutralized through balance. We may look at happiness/sadness, good/evil, poverty/wealth and many other opposites as an example.

Located in the middle of the body, the whole solar plexus is a focal point with a physical tie in to a Libran’s being. Libra’s body focus is the kidneys.

Libra opens the doors to autumn, and represents the Autumnal Equinox when the sun rises specifically due east and sets precisely due west.

When the Sun enters Libra on September 22nd, the Sun is ushered through the Celestial Equator. This is a intangible demarcation that is directly above the Earth’s equator rotating from East to West.

Libras are social beings. A certain poise and grace composes the makeup of the Libran personality. With much care and attentiveness, Libra watches over relationships, and takes mind to keep balance and beauty and peace in the surrounding community of his or her world.

With charisma and refinement, a Libra goes into a social situation and takes charge. He or she is so charming about putting things in order, that no one really notices when the whole group has been taken over by the Libra in their midst.

Libra astrology governs sex, law, and money, which are the astral, mental, and physical planes respectively. The task at hand for Libra is to synthesize these.

“Applied creativity” is how the magic happens, according to Souledout. org.

Libra’s ruling planet is Venus. Libra is considered a masculine sign. Exalted in this astrology symbol, planet Saturn’s relationship to the balancing sign provides the discipline to synthesize and provide equilibrium to the environment. Libra is also labeled as a sign of the air.

Libra people are easy to mingle with. Many Libras have an intense, burning desire to be with a mate. It is as if the significant other is the only thing that makes life complete. As an astrology sign, Libra has a very special place within the zodiac.

My Friend in the Darkness

Hoping to commune with surrounding wildlife at dusk one evening, I had seen the most magical flight of a huge bird floating downward from the utility pole near the barn. He was only fifteen feet away, shadowy and oh so silent in his flight

In a split second, he was off toward the pond – then off into the darkness of the tall pine trees.

On a different evening I heard several high-pitched screeches - sounded like they came from the tall pines near the pond. Someone was speaking to me from the wildlife the darkness.

I stood on the deck sort of fooling around and trying to imitate the sound of it. My husband thought I was losing my mind, but I was just having fun. After a few rounds of stretching my vocal chords to the max, an answer came from out of the dark and starry night.

I replied again with more enthusiasm, but now with a scratchy throat. I was getting so many replies; I thought perhaps I had joined a community conversation. I reached the end of my vocal performance and had to say goodnight to this wildlife community.

Whoever this wildlife friend in the darkness was, he liked me right away. By the next morning at dusk, I went out on the porch to do the morning coffee ritual and heard that friendly screech-like greeting.

In order not to wake up the world, and to also save on my overextended vocal chords, I tried a softer reply. He picked up on it, and we communicated for several moments. It was awesome how he could hear me as soon as I set foot on the porch.

This went on for weeks on end. Whenever I went outside during dimly lit hours, he was there sensing my presence from who knows where. I hadn’t actually seen my wildlife friend yet, and the recipient at the other end of the vocal exchanges remained a mystery.

As more time passed, I began feeling a true affection for this amiable talker- companion of mine. My husband, Peter, had also developed an interest in the puzzling caller of the darkness. He remarked that my friend had gotten my communication confused with a mating call.

Nonetheless, I was happy to have this invisible friend as part of the wildlife community. I kept wishing so that I could see who it was though.

Finally one morning I was near the kitchen sink pouring coffee - looking out the window. Just a few feet away, the utility light near the well pit provided a small circle of visibility in the darkness. Something was moving out there.

In the blink of an eye – I saw a creature that looked like a monkey at first. Pretty soon I was able to focus and figure out that this mysterious visitor must have been my bird friend. Without seeing his wingspan, it really took me a long while to figure out that he was an owl.

So there he was, looking at me through the window, and I was looking at him. The longer he stood there in the spotlight, the more excited I got. I didn’t know what to do, not imagining that he could probably actually hear the blood passing through my veins. Some time passed by with me just looking at him and vice versa.

I didn’t want him to go away too quickly after all this time of invisible communication with the surrounding wildlife. I thought to try body language at this close range. I started tilting my head from side to side. With an eager response, he quickly started moving his head – in a rotation of almost 360 degrees!

In an early morning stupor, I still hadn’t figured out that this guy was one heck of a really big owl.

Months went by, and we talked all summer long. Sometimes other bird voices chimed in. I felt welcomed into a whole different wildlife world that went on during the night.

Later in the season, something happened to my owl friend. He was found lying underneath the willow tree on the north end of the pond. I was so saddened by the loss.

After a closer look, I learned that he was a Great Horned Owl with a fifty-four inch wingspan. A view of his beautiful feather pattern, and his powerful talons took my breath away.

As I looked at his lifeless body, I could understand why there is so much mythology surrounding the owl as a spiritual creature – a connection to other worldly places - places where I could only hope he would be talking to me from beyond. Communing with wildlife can really hurt at moments like this.

Hanging Laundry on the Line

What is it about laundry hanging out to dry that fascinates me so? Is it the quipping of sheets and towels making the soft clamor of the fabric? Is it the brilliant sunlight reflected on white? Or is it a sign of the normalcy that I had known as a child?

Neighbors may have been immigrants from any country, but all had a laundry day as kind of a common denominator. There was a certain peacefulness and bonding that we middle class people had.

As a child walking to school, it was reassuring to know that Mrs. Clancy was well, as shown by blue overalls all in a row on her laundry day. Or the multiple aprons that Mrs. Ardelaine, the Romanian neighbor displayed so proudly with either lace pockets or the simple broadcloth of her every day aprons.

Neighbors with children had the most interesting variety. My sisters and I could snigger a bit when we’d see our classmate’s undies out on the line.

Today, when I see laundry hanging, I am reminded how unusual it has been of late to see the textiles on the wing of the breeze. It’s more common to see beach towels and bathing suits flopped over a clothesline, instead.

The lack of middle class pursuit of excellence that made laundry into and art of craftsmanship is gone. Sometimes a line full of clothes may pop into view while driving down the road. It spurs that nostalgia of a day gone by.

Along with that day that’s passed is the dwindling existence of a middle class. The median gets smaller all the time. With a focus on getting rich, we watch television and see the fabulously wealthy politicians and movie stars.

We often hear of the poor, and huddled masses of large families on the welfare roles. We may read of the immigrants who are living the good life with their golden babies that provided parents with citizenship, and free hospitalization.

We hardly ever hear anything about middle class people anymore.

So when I see the clotheslines of the few, and the flapping towels and sheets, I am comforted with reminiscences of that bygone day of sincerity and hard working people. Of the short lived peaceful times. Of contentment and heroes home from the war and clean laundry waving in the breeze.

Carallel Corner: Dog Days and Astrology

Carallel Corner: Dog Days and Astrology

Dog Days and Astrology

Renowned throughout the world and keenly observed within the fields of astrology and astronomy, Dog Days take in the hottest days of the summer. It’s really no wonder that the Dog Star, Sirius is a closely watched stellar event.

Ancient astrology became a marker for this time of year, because it was so important to recognize the nearby constellation’s importance concerning the dry hot climate of early Egypt and Mesopotamia. Why?

Imagine a sleeping dessert with oblique sunrays and golden colors.
Now imagine the Nile River nestled in its glorious delta terrain. It’s springtime and the expected blessing of her overflowing waters fills hearts with gratitude. She is ready to give life.

In ancient days, night skies measured by carved rocks or exotic temples, or Pyramids were a gage to spot the arrival of the Dog Star Sirius.

It was a time when astrology intertwined with astronomy. It was the most wondrous point of the year, when a goddess named Isis became the celestial idol of the showy night skies.

Through time, Isis and the astrology sign of Virgo became one in the same. Virgo’s placement in the Sirius Constellation is often highlighted with a canine companion. Tying into the Dog Star imagery, all are within an opulent stellar arrangement of God’s sky.

Yes, this could easily be experienced as a religious event, and so it was. The Niles River overflowing represented the bequest of fertility and survival. Ceres is another name for this deity of the Dog Star constellation, Sirius. Notice the likeness in these two star names?

The brightest star in the nearby Milky Way, Sirius is 300 times harder than a diamond. Combined star systems pairing in differently orbiting companion pathways radiate intense magnetic storms. Such colossal magnetic storms appear throughout the Universe approximately every fifty years.

However, on a yearly basis, folklore has it that dogs often act strangely during this time. Stagnancy, and heat mark the sultry period from early July through around August 12.

A more contemporary belief amongst cosmologists is that malevolent entities visit our planet during the July, August months. On stagnant, hot summer days, these unwelcome visitors add to the discomfort of the extreme heat with their malevolent activities.

Perhaps a simpler understanding, ancient priests watched the Temple of Isis in Denderah Egypt. They tracked the arrival of the Canis (Sirius) constellation. Goddess of fertility, Isis, (or Virgo or Ceres) stands as a regal statue awaiting the event. A brilliant jewel on her forehead magically lights up just at the arrival of Sirius overhead in the distant night.

A blue cast denotes our neighboring Dog Star. It is much larger than our Sun, and the closest visible dwarf planet viewable from Earth by the naked eye. Astrology and astronomy both started their primitive beginnings with these kinds of notable stellar events.

Pisces Astrology

Neptune rules Pisces, and is known as the planet associated with religion. The speculation about when Christ was born is ongoing, but some very influential mystical sects believe Christ was a Pisces. Hence, Pisces is associated with the symbolism of suffering. So, it is no coincidence that the beginning of Lent coincides with the oncoming Piscean influence.

The Pisces general Sun transit usually takes place between February 19th and March 20th. Keywords for the sign of the fishes are fruitful, negative, feminine, and double bodied.

The Piscean Age was from approximately 1 AD until 2000 AD – symbolized in the doctrine of Jesus Christ, who took the sins of the world upon him.

Pisces is represented by the fish symbol of Ixthus, and in astrology is characterized by two fish. It is described with terms like sympathetic, universal love, seclusion, self sacrifice, escapism, mediumship, and poetic. The sign of the fish was used on the doors of Christian believers to indicate safe haven for one another during the times of Roman persecution.

The other symbolism associated with the number two, and the double bodied fish emblem, is a certain dualism in regard to spirit. Spirituality with Pisces can be either sacred or profane.

The ruling planet is Neptune, the shrouded planet, and confusion is sometimes the trademark of Pisces. Also, Pisces is known as a water sign, and water is associated with sensitivity.

Recently, an article by Associated Content Contributor, TS Garp, reviews some phenomenal new studies about water having its own consciousness. Amazing test results with water forming crystals showed, more or less, that water does indeed have feelings. See the link below to click on TS Garp's thought provoking review.

Pisces are often reclusive because of their extreme sensitivity. Their consciousness borders on the realm of psychic. Walking into a crowded room can completely jangle his or her sense of calm composure.

When Pisces is out and amongst a crowd, he or she may be suffering silently in behalf of those in the immediate environment.

As always, no singular event or characterization constitutes an accurate study, especially when it comes to human beings. Pisces combined with representative planets in fire and earth signs makes for a completely different picture than the isolated factual descriptions of one Sun sign. A good example of such generalization is the Sun sign description that is available and widely read in the newspapers.

Pisces’ corresponding physical focus is the feet, toes, glandular and lymphatic system, and the tarsus and metatarsus bones. Not known for having a hardy constitution, tending to health issues is very important for Pisces. The extreme psychic receptivity takes a toll on energy resources for this native.

On the same token, the otherworldly sensitivity gives Pisces a great aptitude for creativity and producing works of art with an essence of ethereal fascination.

Famous people with a strong Piscean influence are, among many, Alfred Hitchcock, Pope Pius II, Harry Houdini, Elizabeth Browning, Victor Hugo, van Gogh, Tennessee Williams, George Washington, and Edgar Cayce.

Carallel Corner: The House that I Designed

Carallel Corner: The House that I Designed

The House that I Designed

When my husband retired, I was scared to death. Being a high energy person, I suddenly realized he worud be in constant motion with nothing to do. Afraid that he would drive me buggy, I bought a lot near Lake Erie. I said "Here, honey. Build a house, now."

Well, the house building turned out to be a joint effort. Together we drew up the plans on typing paper. First, I would make the drawing, and then he would change whatever he needed for practical considerations. He would have to install plumbing and heating, construct the frame, etc.

It ended up that he made my kitchen smaller than I had designed, but it worked out o.k.

The main thing that I had always wanted was a breezeway. He built the garage extra big with lots of outlets for accommodating work benches and projects. The big garage left a flexible option in case someone would someday wish to add another living unit by remodeling and omitting the garage. Being in a vacation area, many people alter their houses creating accommodations for tourists, etc.

Libra Shares Transiting Saturn Influence

For 2010 Virgo and Saturn intertwine destinies due to the transiting Saturn effects. Saturn has already been in Virgo since about mid 2008. However, Virgos may be feeling as though this Saturn transit has been around forever. Libras usually balance incoming energy manifestations.

However, it’s going to be interesting to see the Libran balancing act as the disciplinarian planet Saturn moves back and forth in its motion relative to other nearby planetary orbits. Since the planet Saturn is exalted in Libra, it may be a labor of love to keep everything on keel.

One retrograde period has lapsed as Saturn revisited Virgo, and then returned to Libra’s side once again.

Virgo can expect another Saturn visit in April of 2010.

One last hurrah happens with Saturn conjuncting Virgo from April through July. After that, the Saturnine energy is Libra’s baby.

Either Virgo or Libra is well equipped to handle a Saturn transit. This is true more so than with other signs, in any event. Virgo’s got the capability for self-discipline, which is what’s needed anytime there’s an astrological transit involving Planet Saturn. Libras and Saturn are just naturally comfortable together.

Still, it’s going to be a time to work toward a goal. Social life will be secondary to work endeavors. This is a really good time to study, or start an exercise regimen with a goal in mind. Enrolling in any kind of a school works with the Saturn energy, too.

Do something that requires you to keep your nose to the grindstone, Virgos and Libras.

As far as the dates of these major planet transits like Saturn, the cut-off time is veritably non-existent. Why? Because the reactions of each individual are different, and Saturn moves through the celestial skies at a steady pace, the restrictive energy fades away, rather than making any clear-cut transitions.

Following a prescribed plan ultimately proves to help both Virgo and Libra who are sharing the same Saturn transit, so to speak. Once the self-discipline has been applied, look for the results to start dribbling in sometime during 2011, depending on the exact date of birth.
